A Human Rights Act for Queensland: It’s time to have your say
Australia is the only liberal democracy without national human rights protection. The ACT and Victoria have had their rights protected through legislation since 2004 and 2006. Queensland’s government is now giving you a say in how you would like your rights protected and whether we need a Human Rights Act.
Submissions to Queensland’s Human Rights Inquiry are due by 4pm on 18 April. It is really important that the inquiry hears from a diverse range of people in the community and that they receive the message that this reform is well supported. Please consider making a submission. More information about the inquiry can be found here.
Human Rights 4 Qld have prepared a discussion paper and submission-making guides to help organisations and individuals to make submissions. These can be found on their website: http://www.humanrights4qld.com.au/resources.
