Queensland Shelter submission: National Regulatory System for Community Housing

This year Queensland Shelter will be writing a submission on the proposed National Regulatory System for Community Housing. State, Territory and Federal governments are working together to create a national regulatory system to overcome barriers, gaps and inconsistencies that have arisen through each State and Territory regulating community housing providers in a different way. These changes are aimed at building confidence in the community housing sector and ultimately promoting the growth of social housing.

Submissions close on Friday January 20, 2012. We appreciate that this timing, set by governments, is less than ideal but Queensland Shelter will do our best to ensure that we promote community sector and tenant perspectives in the process. We have attended each of the three government led consultations in Queensland that are seeking views from our networks.

You can find out more about the proposal and consultation, and make your own submission, from www.nrsch.gov.au.

If you’re making a submission please consider sharing a draft with us as early as possible so we can reflect your views in our submission.  If you’re not making a submission, but have views that you would like us to include in our submission, please contact Kate Cowmeadow, Operations Manager, at the Queensland Shelter Secretariat on 07 3831 5900 or email kate [dot] cowmeadow [at] qshelter [dot] asn [dot] au (kate [dot] cowmeadow [at] qshelter [dot] asn [dot] au).
