A comparison of National and International housing and homelessness systems
Queensland Shelter conducted a review of international housing and homelessness initiatives as part of its Shape of the Sector project. Countries researched included the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States.
The overview identified a uniform trend away from central government provision of social and community housing across all of these jurisdictions with the local government and non-profit sectors directly delivering affordable housing programs through a combination of grants, loans, and rental income, and indirectly through Central Government rental subsidies issued to tenants.
Please contact the Queensland Shelter office if you have any enquiries.
