Mental Health Week

Mental Health Week commences on the memorable date Sunday 10.10.10 for World Mental Health Day, with the week‘s official QLD launch event being held in Brisbane’s Roma St Parklands.  Also kick-starting the week on Sunday the 10th October will be the Walk of Pride - an initiative of Arafmi, the Queensland Alliance and Reclink – taking place for its second year in Brisbane. The Walk aims to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of mental illness and mental health issues.

Half of us have experienced mental health issues - show your support on this day for more understanding by walking with pride! To help celebrate this important week, there is an opportunity for regional locations to secure mini-grant funding to run a public event to coincide with the launch date, and help encourage media coverage across QLD. Of course, mini-grant funds are also available for events and activities being undertaken throughout the week 10-16th October 2010.  We know that there are already many plans underway for MHW, so make sure you get your applications in.

Please find detailed explanation of the Theme, and Mini-Grant Funding Applications and Organiser’s Kits on our website www.mentalhealth.org.au.  Applications for funding close on July 23rd.  Remember, any group or individual who wishes to undertake an eligible project, within the state of QLD is encouraged to apply.  Don’t forget to stay tuned for the announcement of this year’s Story Competition on July 1st.  We look forward to showing you a few surprises that have been going on in the background at MHAQ……
