International Women's Day "Out of the Garage" Festival

When: Wednesday 10th March 2010
Where: Queens Park , Corner George St and Elizabeth Street ( opposite the casino) , Brisbane City . 

Last year Othila's received funding from Brisbane City Council for a project titled ‘Out of the Garage' - Creative Enterprising Projects for Young Women. This was to fund young women to create their own projects and hold a festival for International Women's Day to showcase their projects and raise awareness about issues facing young women. We have a number of young women currently working on projects such as clothing, photography & art exhibits, Hip Hop, with a few producing products to start their own business, all raising awareness about a variety of issues such as cultural background, discrimination, violence against women, LGBT issues and being a young mum. In addition to the young women's stalls, there will be music, workshops, performances & food.We are also wanting to invite organisations such as yourselves to hold your own stalls, promoting your service and some sort of activity that promotes awareness raising and information.
