Homeless Connect

The date has been set for the May Homeless Connect event in Brisbane.

Tuesday 11th May 2010 at the RNA Showgrounds

Homeless Connect is a program in which the focus is on connection - connection of homeless and at risk people to a range of services and goods, connection to support and connection to other residents of Brisbane.

Principles of Homeless Connect:

•     Immediacy of service provision - ensuring that immediate, practical assistance is provided - what can be done, is done, onsite, on the day.  The opportunity for services to resolve complex issues by communicating on the day is a key.

•     Connection - the whole community connects to the issue of homelessness through HC - people connect to people (volunteers with guests, guests with service providers, and services with services).

•     Hospitality - A day ‘out of the ordinary’, where guests are offered food and entertainment in a welcoming environment.

This will be the 8th event for Brisbane, with two being scheduled to be held per year.

To help Brisbane achieve its vision for a clean, green city we encourage participants to catch public transport to the event.
