Brisbane North Housing Solutions Speed Networking Event

The Brisbane North Housing Solutions Network is holding a forum on August 19, 2009.  Please put this date in your diary to ensure that you will be available to participate in what will be an interesting and informative event.

When: Wednesday, 19 August from 1.00 – 4.00pm 

Where: Chermside Library, Hamilton Rd and  Kittyhawk St, Chermside 

Why: To build a stronger network of housing providers and support services in the northern suburbs Draft Agenda: 

1. Engage in a “hypothetical” that will investigate how we would all respond if 300 – 500 people with limited incomes were suddenly homeless in Brisbane North.

1. Speed networking:  range of activities aimed at increasing the connections between services in the northern suburbs, both housing and support services.

1. Delicious afternoon tea

Who is Brisbane North Housing Solutions (BNHS)? 

BNHS group of representatives from Community Housing Providers, Support Services, Government Departments and Non Government agencies who meet monthly to:

  a..  Provide opportunities for face to face meetings with DoHHS to resolve issues

  b..  Provide feedback to DoHHS and QShelter on housing issues for the northern suburbs

  c..   Advocate re status of housing need in Brisbane North

  d..   Encourage and foster peer support

  e..   Share information on training and professional development

  f..    Undertake collaborative projects

  g..    Identify needs of other providers who are not members of BNHS and encourage their participation in this network
