Branch History

The North Moreton Regional Housing Network is a network of crisis housing services, community housing services, allied community services and non government organisations that have come together to improve affordable housing options and improve responses to long term housing issues.

The North Moreton Shelter Branch was established in 2005 to bring together a range of regional responses aimed at supporting a diverse and sustainable community living in affordable and appropriate housing. The Branch's united voice strives to influence, educate, and inform our communities about the provision and growth of affordable housing in the North Moreton region.

Branch membership includes a broad representation of community centres, TAAS services, crisis, transitional and community housing providers, city council representatives, Indigenous Elders, public tenants, and youth support agencies.

The North Moreton Regional Housing network comprises of the newly amalgamated local government shires of Redcliffe, Pine and Caboolture Shires now know as the Moreton Bay Regional Council area covering the third largest local government area in Queensland with a high proportion of low income families living within its boundaries.

The North Moreton Housing Branch has increased community members' involvement in advocating and lobbying for affordable housing policy development by:

  • conducting and coordinating research into regional housing need
  • bringing commonwealth, state, council and the private and community sectors together to look at affordable housing solutions
  • participating in consultations around commonwealth, state and local government policy changes and directions
