Older People Speak Out (OPSO) is an independent free-spirited group with the experience and the knowledge to speak out on older people's issues without fear or favour. We are an all-volunteer organisation, apolitical in outlook and we work with the media and government at all levels to advocate on behalf of seniors to resolve issues affecting older people. October 2008

The Senior’s Housing Network continues to steer the Senior’s Share Housing project, which is designed to match seniors with complementary needs in both resident owned and head leased properties, towards stage two and implementation.

One of the initial features of the program will be a course of six week training and education sessions held at a seniors or community centre that will provide prospective  sharers to select co-residents. Participants will be able to pre-screen potential conflicts and liaise with a case manager who will oversee tenancies and offer assistance when requested.    Read more »

The Seniors Housing Branch have retained former Qld Shelter Branches worker and housing maven Deirdre Coughlan to steward their seniors share housing project which will assist seniors to:

·         Source and share housing amongst peers

·         Remain in the community

·         Reduce isolation

·         Pool resources to meet increasing costs of living. Read more »

The newly formed Queensland Shelter Senior’s Housing Branch, comprised of members of the Older Person’s Speak Out network (OPSO) and cooperating agencies, have appointed Tracey Douglas as Branch Delegate.

 The Branch brings with it a wealth of expertise in advocacy, policy development, media campaigning, educational program development and delivery, and lobbying. Read more »
