October 2008

The Logan LANARTA Branch held its inaugural Real Estate Breakfast on 8 July at the Logan Entertainment Centre. Over 30 real estate agents and 40 representatives from community organizations and government attended.     The forums focused on ways that the private and community sectors can work together to support and sustain tenancies in the private rental market. Speakers included Wendy Clark of Logan TAAS, Charm Lord of Families around Beenleigh, Jenny Schmidt manager of Interlink Housing and Retiring Magistrate Bill Randall of the Small Claims Tribunal.  Read more »

June 2008

The Logan /Lanarta Branch are hosting a networking breakfast  for real estate agencies, local housing and support organisations, Department of Housing staff, and local and state government representatives.  The event will provide an opportunity for housing stakeholders to build relationships and establish common interests. Speakers from the Residential tenancies Authority, Small Claims Tribunal, Logan Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Service, REIQ and Local Government have been invited. Queensland Shelter and Community Renewal are sponsoring the event and working with the branch to ensure that the breakfasts become a regular feature of the newly expansive Logan landscape. In addition to the resumption of Logan/LANARTA network meetings, there will be a meeting of social and public housing tenants to be held in the Beenleigh Area in early March to introduce Social and Community housing clients to the change in the Department’s eligibility requirements regarding revised asset testing.
