Branch History
The Gold Coast Homelessness Network first met in 1993 as the Gold Coast and Hinterland Housing Network (GCHHN). The Network sought to respond to the lack of crisis accommodation and affordable housing and was initially driven by the Housing Resource Service (HRS) with assistance from emergency housing workers and, in part, the Commonwealth State Housing Agreement consultation project. The Gold Coast Homelessness Network is hosting the inaugural Gold Coast Homeless Connect on 15 October at Albert Waterways Community Centre. In addition to food, entertainment, and giveaways the homeless, or those at risk of homelessness can access medical and legal advice, counselling, information on accommodation options, and assistance obtaining identification.
The event is an initiative of the Gold Coast Homelessness Network with the steering committee drawn from its membership. Read more »
